Overview: I’m a biochemist with experience in structural biology. I use X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM in combinantion with biochemical and biophysical techniques to understand the relationship between structure and function of protein complexes.

Background? I studied biotechnology at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, in Poland. I did my PhD as a joint project between University of Virginia and Jegillonian University, and studied potranslation modifications of chromatin during mitosis using X-ray crystallography. I did my first postdoctoral training at the Institute of Catalysis in Cracow, where I worked on structure-function relationship between proteins involved in opioid synthesis. The second postdoctoral training I did at the University of Virginia, where I studied cellular processes regulated by phase separation. In Ed Egelman’s lab my research focuses on actin and actin binding proteins.

Where do I see myself in 5 years? I would like to lead a research project in academic or industry setting.
